Contents of the training

Bricklayer (m/f/d) is one of those professions that you can already imagine as a child.
But it’s still not child’s play.
From the foundations to the last gable stone, as a bricklayer (m/f/d) you are responsible for the construction of the entire building shell.
Your tasks are correspondingly varied.
First of all, you will learn to read the plans correctly so that you have an idea of where which wall will later stand or how large the foundation should be.
Once you have understood this, you can get started: First you form and concrete the foundation.
Then it’s on to the walls, which you can either set as precast concrete elements, form and concrete on site or raise with bricks.
It is important that you work precisely and that all dimensions are correct.
A spirit level, plumb line, plumb bob and modern surveying equipment such as a tachymeter are therefore among the tools you use frequently.
Depending on the construction project, you will work with different bricks.
For example, large-format sand-lime bricks are usually used in industrial construction and bricks in residential construction.
Concrete is your main material for ceilings or stairs.
Here you work with prefabricated concrete parts or in-situ concrete.
This means that you will also need to master formwork and concrete processing.
As a bricklayer (m/f/d), you can expect many exciting tasks.

You don’t have to be afraid of hard physical work.
Sure, you’ll have to lend a hand here and there, but the heavy loads are all done by machines.

Duration and procedure

Like most apprenticeships, the bricklayer apprenticeship (m/f/d) lasts 3 years.
You will alternate between vocational school and work in our company.
You can obtain your first qualification after just 2 years: Your intermediate bricklayer examination is then due, which is also the final examination for the building construction specialist (m/f/d).

In the final year of your apprenticeship, your knowledge from the first 24 months will be deepened even further and your knowledge of bricklaying will be refined.
After successfully passing the final examination, you will finally be a journeyman (m/f/d) and can really hit the ground running.
