Our focus here is on technically challenging civil engineering structures and bridges with a complexity that requires a high level of engineering skills. Our customers can rely on us for all services from planning, organising and managing subcontractors to the building work itself. Our focus is always on the durability of our civil engineering structures and their timely completion. The fact that we use precast superstructures allows us to optimise our construction schedules and minimise closure times for road users. Special construction procedures as a result of traffic closures or complex local conditions are part of our day-to-day business.
Bridges
With our experienced team in the planning office and on site, we build all kinds of bridges for private and public-sector clients. They include all necessary civil engineering structures for building traffic routes, such as pedestrian bridges, road overpasses and underpasses, and railway overpasses and underpasses. We are among the construction companies prequalified by Deutsche Bahn for the construction of railway bridges. Thanks to our facility for manufacturing precast concrete components, we can achieve shorter construction times for reinforced concrete bridges, prestressed concrete bridges and steel composite bridges with short closure times.
Open cut tunnels
When it comes to designing tunnels, an open cut construction is often easier and less expensive, according to the geographic conditions. We also offer planning and construction services in this area and build tunnels primarily for road and traffic route construction. Depending on the contract, we find the best solution for every tunnel from both a technical and economic standpoint. This means taking issues like noise protection or the possibility of building on top of the tunnel into consideration from the start. As a specialist for concrete constructions, we also have the skills and experience to realise highly specific projects, such as tunnel ceilings made of PP fibre-reinforced concrete.
Trough structures and groundwater tanks
When it comes to building traffic routes such as roads, cycle paths, pedestrian paths or railway tracks, the groundwater level is frequently higher than the planned traffic route. In such cases, we build groundwater tanks and trough structures for our customers. Our services range from single-lane traffic routing to highway cross-sections. Thanks to our many years of experience and high material quality and construction standards, we fulfil the specific requirements regarding the impermeability of concrete and load-bearing structures.
Retaining wall structures
Our civil engineering activities also include building structures with retaining walls. Retaining walls are used primarily when there is limited space, to bridge height differences, or in any other situations that rule out the construction of embankments. Depending on the customer’s requirements and the prevailing conditions, the walls are built with in-situ concrete or precast parts, either fixed or unfixed. Our orders range from purely functional concrete retaining walls to architecturally challenging designs that blend with the environment and the surrounding buildings.
Other civil engineering structures
Civil engineering and bridge construction is extremely varied – just like our range of services. For example, we also build “special” civil engineering structures from time to time. These include projects like wildlife bridges over motorways, or specific designs such as underwater concrete bases for building groundwater tanks or supporting piers for river bridges.
In addition, through our company Glass Ingenieurbau Leipzig GmbH that is certified for hydraulic engineering work, we can also reliably carry out challenging projects to a high quality in this area in Northern Germany.
